The class enables candidates to acquire a basic ability to communicate with Deaf people using Sign Language. It also aims to provide information about Deaf People, the Deaf Community and Deaf Culture. It is aimed at those who have either little or no Sign Language skills and are seeking formal qualifications for employment etc. The course will only run for 31weeks costing £380, starting in August. Our Mission Statement
North Lanarkshire Disability Forum is a voluntary organisation run by and for people with disabilities and their carers, giving a wide range of information on Community Services, Housing, Health, Transport, Benefits and Citizen and Professional Advocacy. We are a representative body for all people with disabilities and their carers.
We aim to :
- Treat you with respect, integrity and sincerity.
- Provide the best service possible for people with disabilities and their carers.
- Provide access to relevant and up-to-date information.
- Provide home visits for those with mobility or health difficulties.
- Work in partnership with other organisations and statutory bodies to develop more effective and practical ways to assist people with disabilities.
- Be flexible and creative with all resources available.
- Provide opportunities for our volunteers and staff to stretch them with training in skills, which enhance their abilities.
- Provide assistance, advice and practical help to new self-help/pressure groups.
